What a Crock: One Year, One Crockpot and One Reno Wreck

Food Mood- Crockpot Soup, the definition of easy Reno Ridiculouso= Reno Repeativo (I know it’s not a word.   Neither was ridiculouso. Man, you guys are getting’ so judgey!   Maybe it’s because we’ve been at this for nine months) Ya know what’s easy? Trimming the caulking off of window frames and taping seams of drywall.   Ya know what’s hard? Everything else to do with drywall.   Let’s list that shall we? Why not?       Mixing up the mud with the hawk (that is the word, right?) and the scrapery thing (not the word)       Laying the mud along the seam, super smooth but with enough coverage that it’s worth your time.   But not too much coverage or your wasting the mud ‘cause you’ll just sand it off    Waiting for the mud to dry.   Oh, right.   This project is so big that’s there’s almost never any waiting.   The minute we finish one round of mud we’re ready to go back and sand the beginnin...

Food Mood: Carb comfort Reno Ridiculouso: Mud, tape, mud, tape, rinse, repeat… forever! The ten foot sheets of drywall seemed like such an awesome plan when we realized how many fewer seams they would create for mudding and taping.   Yep, awesome plan.   Until my super strong carpenter husband could barely lift them on his own.   We have a drywall lift (buy this item. Now!   I mean it.)   so once we get them in the house it’s easy to get them up on the wall, but damn getting them in the house took a lot of beer and a few neighbours.   Oh, and it was raining a lovely November rain (place cheesy awesome Guns ‘n Roses tune here).   Anyhow, the hubby’s back is aching and there’s a hell of a long road ahead of us to mud, tape, sand, prime, paint, install floor and then put in cabinets.   Estimated timeline to completion: three months.   Lord, let us finish before this becomes a year… Comfort Potato Bacon Soup (hold the bacon if...
