Death By Doors and Smoked Salmon Sandwiches

Food Mood:Treatin’ Myself to some smoked salmon and mostly not cookin’

Reno Ridiculouso: The doors and windows and the…. Oh for F’s sake!  Why the bleep is nothing straightforward?????

Ok, so the title might have given away that I’m feeling much less serene than last post.  Cool Contractor worked fast and efficient and got all the walls and roof up and we’re ready for windows and doors, which thankfully have been onsite for about three weeks.

And that’s when we realize that every door and window that has arrived is wrong.  Not just a little bit wrong, dramatically, ridiculously wrong.

The Hubby goes back to the big box company from which they were ordered and…. Yep.  They agree that the doors and windows were definitely manufactured wrong.  Yep.  Sorry man. We’ll order you new ones, should take about three weeks.

Ok.  Right.  So I get that people make mistakes and I’m trying to be cool and the Hubby is trying to be cool, but it’s now October 15th and you’re saying three more weeks until the doors and windows will come????? And then we’ll have to get our very busy contractor to come back, and put them in, and seal them and Tyvek and snow is coming and oh my goodness, oh my heavens, ok, ok.

Breathe, just breathe.

And that is when both lose our heads a bit and the Hubby goes to sit on He Who Watches front porch and blow off steam and I go for a run, and then to a friends house to bitch and then have a beer, and then…
Doors and Windows.  Fucking Doors and Windows!

Smoked Salmon Sandwiches (I did say that we lost our heads… there is no cooking when you lose your heads)
Some nice thick cut bread, crusty outside, soft within
Some smoked salmon
Some cream cheese (or goats cheese)
Some think sliced red onion
And a few capers.
Layer appropriately.  Eat while sitting in your new addition that has walls but no doors or windows, in October, in Canada. Bon Appetit!
